ROCK BREAKER HAVING HORIZONTAL IMPELLER TABLE AND DIRECT DRIVE MOTOR

A rock breaker of the type having a rotating impeller table mounted on a vertical axis for receiving rock which is flung at high velocity against breaker blocks mounted on the inner wall of an outer housing. The impeller table is directly connected to the vertically mounted output shaft of a variable speed electric motor. A single thrust bearing is mounted in a bearing housing positioned between the rotating table and the motor. An inner housing encloses and supports both the motor and the thrust bearing. The crushed rock falls between the inner housing and an outer housing. Ventilation conduits provide cooling air to the motor and bearing and exhaust the hot air. The ventilation conduits, in addition, serve as structural supports by connecting the inner and outer housing.
