PURPOSE:To prevent the change in base rigidity of a recording medium and also to avoid head clogging by using a control means to keep the temperature within a proper range at the contact part between a disk type recording medium and a head. CONSTITUTION:A gas controlled at a prescribed temperature is supplied to a heat medium path 17 of a control head 16 through a heat medium supply port 18 and then discharged through a discharge port 19. Thus the temperature of a control head 16 is controlled and at the same time an attached pad 13 is kept under a proper temperature. Furthermore, temperature control is possible also for a magnetic disk 10 since the pad 13 contacts the disk 10 while sliding. This prevents the abnormal rise or drop of temperature and then prevents the change in base rigidity of the disk 10 as well as the head clogging.
