PURPOSE:To uniformly cool a magnetic disk device with high efficiency by providing air paths independent of each other around plural head disk assemblies and at the same time providing an independent ventilation means in response to those air paths. CONSTITUTION:A duct 12 is packed into a frame 9 via an attachment rail 13 together with a power supply part 14 and plural ventilation means 8 packed at the highest and lowest part of the frame 9 respectively. Then a head disk assembly HDA15 and a ventilator 16 are provided on the inside of the duct 12. In an operation mode, cooling air is sucked as shown by arrow heads 18 by the ventilator 16 via the front face of the duct 12. Thus each HDA15 is cooled. While heated air is collected temporarily at the rear part of the device 16 and then discharged 17 above the device 16 by the means 8. Thus the heat discharge value is increased at the outer shell of the HDA15 and therefore the cooling efficiency is improved. Furthermore, an exactly equal cooling state is secured among those HDA15 and the stable cooling performance is secured.
