PURPOSE:To display data with the attribute equivalent to a previous row or a previous block at a displaying device by storing temporarily the attribute of the previous row and the previous block by a memory and in case of the same attribute as the previous row and the previous block, describing the character and the symbol equivalent to the same attribute. CONSTITUTION:The type of an area is discriminated, in case of the attribute, it is collated with the standard pattern of an attribute recording group by a recognizing part 7, the attribute is detected, next, it is decided whether or not the attribute is a repeating symbol and in case of the same attribute, the recognizing result is temporarily stored into a memory 6. On the other hand, when the attribute is different from the attribute of the previous row and the previous block, the detection of the attribute is executed by the recognizing part 7 and the attribute is temporarily stored into the memory 6. Then, after the data are identified, they are collated with the standard pattern of the recognizing object character group by the recognizing part 7, the character number is detected, the code conversion is executed by a character code output part 8 together with the attribute and the code is outputted to a host computer 10.
