PURPOSE:To inspect a spelling in a short time and efficiently by inspecting the spelling with a frequent occurring analyzing dictionary and a general analyzing dictionary in a device when an erroneously spelled word exists at inputted words and phrases. CONSTITUTION:A dictionary retrieving part 16, in a spelling checking module 10, reads respective words of an English word string to inspect a spelling in the sequence, and retrieves a frequent occurring analyzing dictionary 12 where a frequent occurring word such as an article, pronoun and be-verb is stored and a general analyzing dictionary 14 where a general word is stored, by using the heading of respective words. In the frequent occurring analyzing dictionary 12, the frequent occurring word such as the article such as 'the,' 'a' and 'an,' the be-verb such as 'is,' 'am' and 'are' and the pronoun such as 'I,' 'me' and 'you,' is stored, and in the general analyzing dictionary 14, the general word such as a common noun, a verb and an adverb is stored. After inspection is executed in the spelling checking module 10, when an erroneous spelling exists, the erroneously spelled word is flickered and displayed.
