Compsns. for prepg. polyolefins resin having lower m.p. comprise (i) polyolefin i.e. polypropylene, (ii) up to 0.5 wt.% of polyamide(selected from nylon 6 and nylon 66) by wt. to polyolefin and (iii)3-30 wt.% of phenolic novolak by wt. to polyamide. Novolak is prepd. by polymerized condensing mono-substd. phenols i.e. cresol, p-tert-butyl phenol with formaldehyde in the presence of HCl or H2C2O4. Continuous banbury mixer is used for the dispersion of polyamide contg. novolak into polyolefin.
