PURPOSE:To facilitate maintenance by providing a deterioration detecting means which detects the sudden reduction of a current flowing in a light emitting means in the lighting state of a light source and a deterioration display means which displays the output of said detecting means. CONSTITUTION:This facsimile equipment is equipped with fluorescent lamps 10 and 20, a lens 30, a photoelectric transducer 40, a fluorescent lamp driving circuit 50, a fluorescent lamp deterioration detecting circuit 60, and a fluorescent lamp deterioration display circuit 70. The fluorescent lamps 10 and 20 are driven normally by the fluorescent lamp driving circuit 50 with a specific tube current. The tube current is ceased in a state that a lamp deteriorates until it does not illuminate. The fluorescent lamp deterioration detecting circuit 60 detects the reduction of the tube current due to the deterioration and the fluorescent lamp deterioration display circuit 70 receives the detection signal from the fluorescent lamp deterioration detecting circuit 60 to make a display and a remote indication on the device. Consequently, the trouble in inspection by periodic maintenance, etc., is eliminated.
