The invention relates to a method and a device for executing work operations on a material web 1 which is provided with transverse, sheet-demarcating markings 9, for example watermarks, which have been produced in connection with the production of the paper web 1, and, because of the production method, does not have an even division between the said sheet-dividing transverse markings 9 along the entire length of the web 1. Because of the varying division, work operations of the type printing of text or pictures, punching or grinding of holes, or the like, which are to be positioned in a specific way relative to the said transverse sheet- dividing markings 9 have to be executed in register with the said web markings 9. In order to obtain an even division between ground holes or minimal distortion of the printed pictures, correction of the work operations has to be carried out such that a "controlled slippage" is realized throughout the work operation, i.e. the correction of detected faults in the division between the sheet-dividing markings 9 is extended by a whole sheet length or multiples of sheet length. <IMAGE> |
