PURPOSE:To develop an Al alloy stock for connecting rod for interval combustion engine excellent in strength at high temp., by adding and incorporating specific amounts of Fe, V, Mo, and Zr to Al. CONSTITUTION:As the Al alloy as a connecting rod material for internal combustion engine, an Al alloy which contains, by weight, 6-15% Fe, 0.5-5% V, 0.5-5% Mo, and 0.3-5% Zr and in which the average diameter and average intergranular distance of compound grains existing in the alloy are regulated to <=1mum and <=1mum, respectively, is used. In this way, an Al alloy excellent in strength at high temp., namely, in tensile strength, fatigue strength, and creep strength and suitable as a connecting rod material can be obtained.
