<p>PURPOSE:To obtain improve returning performance by providing compensating means for restricting the magnitude of an output signal from steering rotational speed detecting means in response to increase of vehicle speed, when a returning state of a steering system is detected. CONSTITUTION:Motor control means 46 determines a motor control signal in accordance with output signals from steering torque detecting means 41 and compensating means 45 so as to control actuation of a motor 10. At this time, if a returning state of a steering system is detected by returning state detecting means 44, the compensating means 45 restricts a signal from steering rotational speed detecting means 42 in response to increase of vehicle speed. Therefore, in the returning state of the steering system, returning speed of the steering system is restricted in response to the vehicle speed in medium and high speed ranges, while the returning performance of the steering system is maintained during low speed travelling. During high speed travelling, returning stability is improved.</p> |
