PURPOSE:To make it possible to project ultraviolet rays on the surface of an element 22 even if the fixing position of the element is deviated, by providing an elliptic ultraviolet-ray transmitting window in the cap of an ultraviolet-ray transmitting type semiconductor device, in which a semiconductor is attached in a ceramic package and which is sealed with the cap that can transmit the ultraviolet rays. CONSTITUTION: A semiconductor element 12 is contained in a package. Ultraviolet rays are projected on the semiconductor element 12. At this time, the ultraviolet rays transmits through a light transmitting window 11, which is provided in a cap 13. The shape of the window 11 is elliptic. Therefore, even if the fixing position of the element 12 is deviated, the ultraviolet rays are not shielded by the cap 13 and can be projected on the surface of the element 12. |
