The rotation-stabilised ammunition unit incorporates several fins to produce a variation in its rotation speed dependent upon the difference between the calculated position of the target and the calculated striking point of the ammunition unit. The fins are distributed around the periphery, and their angle to its longitudinal axis determines whether the rotation speed is increased or diminished. The fins are normally folded inwards against the sides of the projectile, but can be selectively activated to adopt an extended position. Activation is by means of a command transmitted by a radio link to a receiver in the projectile. A calculating unit calculates the requisite correction so that the calculated striking point of the projectile coincides with the calculated position of the target, and corresp. command is transmitted to the projectile. |
