PURPOSE:To make it possible to easily detect any abnormal condition of an indoor and outdoor connecting wire by comparing a current flowing through the indoor and outdoor connecting wire with a reference current flowing at an ordinary time. CONSTITUTION:A current detecting element 2 is fitted over a connecting wire 3, and receives an output from a current detecting element 2 to detect a current supplied to a compressor and the like, flowing through the connecting wire 3. A current comparison circuit 17 compares its detection current with a reference current flowing to a compares its detection current with a reference current flowing to a compressor and the like and other reference current. An alarm circuit 18 outputs an abnormal signal to give an alarm when a detection current is lowered to below the reference current upon operating the air conditioner. A compressor operating circuit 19 controls a relay 6 for a compressor based on the comparison result of a comparison circuit 17. Thus, abnormal conditions such as unconnectedness, breaking, erroneous wiring and the like, of the connecting wire 3 can be easily detected.
