PURPOSE:To prevent an offensive odor generated at the time of printing from being diffused into the atmosphere and obtain a pleasant working environment, by providing a sucking means for collectively sucking an odor generated at the time of printing, and a deodorizing member for elimination the odor sucked by the sucking means. CONSTITUTION:When printing is started and a printing head 4 is moved, for example, from left to right for printing in a line, a substance constituting an odor source is formed due to the contact of the head 4 with a printing ribbon 3 in the vicinity of the part of the contact, and starts being diffused into the atmosphere. The rightward movement of the head 4 is accompanied by a movement of a piston 6 in the same direction. By this movement, a negative pressure for suction is generated in a pressure chamber P to open a suction valve Vs, and an exhaust valve Ve is operated in a direction for closing, whereby the odor source substance generated at the time of printing is collectively sucked into the pressure chamber P through a suction pipe 7. When the head 4 is moved leftward in a returning operation, the piston 6 is moved following this, the odor source substance is subjected to deodorization by a catalyst member 9 in a converter part 8a, and is released into the atmosphere in a substantially odorless state. |
