PURPOSE:To simply check inputted sentences through a sentence processor containing a display device having a small screen, by displaying character strings forming those input sentences on the screen while shifting them in the fixed direction and then stopping said shift for a fixed time when punctuation marks are displayed. CONSTITUTION:A telopping key 2 gives an indication to display the character strings of inputted sentences on a display device LCD16 from the right to the left as if they flowed (telopping). This key 2 includes a high-speed telopping key 2a and a low-speed telopping key 2b that designate the telopping speeds. An encoder 3 converts the key signals received from the key 1 into character codes; while an encoder 4 converts the key signals received from the key into telopping control codes. A dot buffer 15 holds temporarily a dot pattern of characters delivered from a character generator 14 when a CPU 5 reads the punctuation mark codes out of a RAM 7.
