PURPOSE:To facilitate the positioning of printing paper and to make it possible to easily confirm a printing position when an illustration is printed on a plurality of printing papers at the designated positions thereof, by providing a carriage position memory means and a carriage moving means for moving a carriage to an arbitrary position. CONSTITUTION:A carriage position memory means 6 stores a printing position, for example, the printing start position of an illustration as the position of a carriage. A printing finish detection means 7 detects the finish of printing and, for example, a printing control part 54 performs the command of the whole of a printing apparatus, and, therefore, the finish of printing can be detected as a matter of course and, by providing a printing control part 55 containing even the printing finish detection means 7, the finish of printing can be easily detected. A carriage moving means 8 allows the carriage to move to the carriage position stored in the carriage position memory means on the basis of the detection of the finish of printing by the printing finish detection means 7.
