Cement usable for the deposition of an element and its use for enriching the surface of a metal component with this element

A cement usable for depositing an element on the surface of a metal component. According to the invention the said element is found in the oxide state in the cement and the latter additionally contains a reducing element capable of reducing this oxide and an activator capable of forming at least one volatile compound with the said element. The deposition may be followed by an additional aluminising stage or aluminium can be employed as reducing agent and its proportion in the cement can be determined in order to produce a codeposition of aluminium and of the said element. Application to the protection of stainless steels and of superalloys against oxidation and/or corrosion when heated.
