In order to facilitate the extraction of the first cigarette, at least one of the cigarettes 5, visible on opening the packet, has one end set back from the level of the ends of the other cigarettes 3. This may be obtained either by inserting into the pack a cigarette 5 shorter than all the other cigarettes 3 or by off setting at least one row of cigarettes in relation to the other rows, all the cigarettes remaining the same length. Such packaging applies to packs of all kinds, soft-pack or hard-pack, for articles of the tobacco industry or for any other articles of similar shape and presentation. <IMAGE>
