PURPOSE:To improve the magnetic characteristic and weatherability of the titled medium by implanting an alkali metal ion into the surface part of a ferromagnetic metallic thin film. CONSTITUTION:The ion generated from an ion source is drawn out, focused, and accelerated, or only the desired ion is drawn out by mass separation. The ion is irradiated on a target material. The accelerating voltage of the ion beam is controlled to 5-70kV, or more preferably to 5-40kV. The quantity of the ion to be implanted is preferably adjusted to 10<14>-10<18> units/cm<2>. Alkali metals such as Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs, and Fr are used as the material of the ion to be implanted. The magnetic characteristic and weatherability of the medium are thus improved.
