PURPOSE:To attain appropriate dropwise fall of a slag without using any additional heating means for preheating, by generating a circulation system of a combustible gas by means of a pressure difference in a gasifying chamber by heating a slag tap with the circulating combustible gas. CONSTITUTION:Since any whirling current of gas is not generated below a slag tap 3, a pressure distribution uniform along its radial direction occurs there. Comparing pressures between above and below the slag tap 3, the pressure above the tap is lower than that below the tap at a gas return aperture 4 provided at the circulation center. On the other hand, at a slag flow-down aperture 7 outside the circulation center, the pressure above the tap is higher than that below the tap. Therefore, the gas flows from below the tap towards above the tap at the gas return aperture 4 provided at the circulation center, and flows from above the tap towards belows the tap at the slag flow-down aperture 7 outside the circulation center. The high-temp. gas within the furnace gets into the space below the slag tap 3 through the slag flow-down aperture 7 and, as a gas stream 8 returns to the inside of the furnace through a gas return aperture 4. A slag 6 dropwise falls due to gravity, while the gas stream moves the gas return aperture 4. The slag 6 cannot follow a rapid change in the gas flow direction, so that it is separated from the gas stream, thereby dropwise falling into a slag cooling chamber.
