Air-purifying device for hospital beds

It is known that bed-ridden patients are a frequent source of nuisance to the environment due to unpleasant odours. There have already been proposed devices which are directly connected under the bed cover in order to eliminate the unpleasant odours. However, continuous aspiration under the bed cover may lead to hypothermia of the patient, so that it must be rejected in many cases. In order to avoid these disadvantages the invention proposes an air-purifying device which comprises a purification cartridge (3) on the suction side of a fan (4) and a purification cartridge (5) on the pressure side of the fan (4). The purification cartridges (3, 5) are designed as combined sound absorbers/chemisorption filters. The filter cartridge (3) is preferably designed as a multi-layer chemisorption filter, the layers comprising alkaline and acidic compositions having bactericidal and odour-absorbing effects. <IMAGE>
