PURPOSE:To change a wavelength area of light passing through a substrate consisting of a photoelectric material by controlling voltage to be applied to electrodes formed so as to put the substrate between them. CONSTITUTION:Electrodes 2, 3 are fitted to the surfaces of a substrate 1 consisting of a photoelectric material and polarizers 5, 6 are arranged in a path of the light passing through the optical substrate 1 so as to put the substrate 1 between them. If voltage is applied from a driving circuit 4 to the substrate 1 through the electrodes 2,3, an electric field generated in the substrate gives the phase difference between vertical and parallel polarizing components against the electric field. Thus, when nonmonochromatic light is made incident from the side of polarizer 5 to the substrate 1, a wavelength area of projected light passed through the polarizer 6 can be optionally changed according to the value of voltage to be applied between the electrodes 2 and 3. |
