PURPOSE:To lower the manufacturing cost of a piston and to reduce the weight of the piston, by connecting the top plate of a piston made of an atmospheric- pressure sintered silicon nitride and the main body of a piston made of a an aluminum alloy together by the intermediary of a plate made of a reaction- sintered silicon nitride. CONSTITUTION:A recess 2 is formed at the bottom of the top plate 1 of a piston made of an atomospheric-pressure sintered silicon nitride, and a plate 4 made of a reaction-sintered silicon nitride is inserted into the recess 2. A ceramics incorporating piston is constituted by coupling the main body of a piston made of an aluminum alloy to the top plate 1 of the piston by way of shrinkage fit in the manner of preventing drop of said plate 4. With such an arrangement, it is enabled to reduce the thickness of the top plate of a composite piston having a high strength and heat-insulating performance and to obtain a light, ceramics incorporated piston at a low cost. |
