PURPOSE:To automatically select an optional original and to feed it into a scanning section, by designating the position of one of originals on a paper feed tray, to be fed into the scanning section, and by feeding the original into the scanning section when the count number of the originals to be fed reaches a predetermined number. CONSTITUTION:An original feed tray is composed of a body 51 having a digit-like forward end, and an L-like cross-sectioned shape conveying direction changing member 52 engaged to the former. The changing member 52 has a vertical plate 54 with a digit-like top end, and upper original feed rollers 8a are disposed at positions corresponding to the digit-like end of the vertical plate 54. When the position of an original is designated, the upper, middle and lower positions of the changing member 52, the position and rotating condition of a pick-up roller and the direction of rotation of an upper roller 8a are controlled in accordance with the designated position. The originals on the original feed tray are fed one by one into an original transfer tray located above the feed rollers 8a while they are counted. When the counted number coincides with a count number corresponding to the designated position, one original sheet at the designated position is conveyed, under combination of the above-mentioned control phases, to a scanning section through the feed rollers 8a. |
