PURPOSE:To provide synchronous and tension adjustable winding of each strip using a single motor by rotating each takeup drum with the power from a main motor synchronously through a differential gearing mechanism. CONSTITUTION:A wide strip 25 processed by a rolling mill into double size is divided by a slitter continuously and wound on drums 22, 23 in the form of coils 13, 14. These drums 22, 23 are driven by a single main motor 12 through transmissions 7, 8 and differential gearing mechanisms 17, 18 whose rotational speeds are adjusted by adjusting motors 9, 10 and clutches 15, 16 of a distributor 11. This allows effective winding with a single main motor 12, and said differential gearing mechanisms 17, 18 provide easy adjustment even in case the strips 25 require different tensions, for ex. in case the divided strips 25 have different widths. Also the takeup drums 22, 23 can be driven selectively and individually by the use of clutches 15, 16, that enables operation in accordance with the width of strip.
