PURPOSE:To improve the dispersibility of a liq. dispersion and to attain a high degree of orientation in a magnetic field and high surface smoothness by dispersing magnetic powder in a system contg. no binder, adding a binder, and mixing and dispersing them. CONSTITUTION:Magnetic powder is dispersed in a binder, and a prepd. liq. dispersion is coated on a nonmagnetic support to manufacture a magnetic recording medium. At this time, magnetic powder of hexagonal ferrite is dispersed in a system contg. no binder, binder is then added, and they are mixed and dispersed. The hexagonal ferrite used is represened by a general formula AFe12O19 (where A is at least one among Ba, Sr, Pb and Ca). The size of the magnetic powder used is 2-0.008mum, preferably 0.8-0.01mum, especially preferably 0.3-0.02mum. The preferred weight ratio between the magnetic powder and an org. solvent is 500/100-500/800. |
