PURPOSE:To obtain a pressure-sensitive copy material excellent in color forming capacity and reduced in a malodor, by using a specific amount of phenyl(sec- butylphenyl)methane as the solvent of the color former of the pressure-sensitive copy material. CONSTITUTION:As phenyl(sec-butylphenyl)methane used as the solvent of the electron donating color former of a pressure-sensitive copy material, there are three kinds of o-, p- and m-position isomers corresponding to the substitution positions of a sec-butyl group, that is, phenyl-2-(sec-butylphenyl)methane, phenyl-3-(sec-butylphenyl)methane and phenyl-4-(sec-butylphenyl)methane but it is important that the sum of the m-isomer and the p-isomer is 50%wt or more of phenyl(sec-butylphenyl)methane. All of the obtained solvents are excellent in a color forming characteristic and reduced in the generation of a malodor.
