PURPOSE:To make it possible to prevent grippers from being broken, in a printer or the like, by providing such an arrangement that support members urge the grippers toward the peripheral surface of a drum in a condition in which the operating range of the support members is limited by a stopper when one end of a sheet is gripped. CONSTITUTION:Resilient grippers 9, 10 for gripping one end of a sheet between themselves and the peripheral surface of a drum 5, are attached at their base ends to rigid support members 47, 49, and upon gripping, the support members 47, 49 are urged toward the peripheral surface of the drum 5 in a condition in which the operating range thereof is limited by stoppers 43, 45. Accordingly, by the resilient force of the grippers 9, 10, unbalancing of gripping forces due to misalignment of the grippers 9, 10 may be absorbed, and the engaging sections 59, 61 of the support members 47, 49 are received by the stoppers 43, 45 even if the grippers 9, 10 are made into press-contact with the outer peripheral surface of the drum 5 so that they are elastically deformed, thereby it is possible to prevent the grippers from being broken due to elastic deformation.
