In this control system which has a central station (1) and a multiplicity of substations (2), a plurality of terminals (3) and a multiplicity of data selectors (4), preferably a number of data selectors (4) corresponding to the number of substations (2), are provided in the central station (1), and the data supplied by the substations (2) can be supplied in the terminals (3), that is to say distributed to the terminals (3), via the data selectors (4). Due to the fact that each data selector (4) exhibits its own data processing and storage unit (6) and, if necessary, the data supplied by the substations (2) are processed and stored in the data selectors (4), much less hardware is required than in the prior art, in particular much less storage space is needed and, at the same time, the operational reliability is increased. <IMAGE>
