Adjustable steering column for motor vehicles

A description is given of an adjustable steering column for motor vehicles with a tilting joint, around the joint axis of which the mutually facing ends of a two-part steering-column tube and of a steering spindle, mounted rotatably in the tube and likewise of two-part design, are hinged to each other, and with a motor drive, the direction of rotation of which can be reversed, and with an actuating element which can be moved by this drive and connects together the two parts of the steering-column tube which are arranged coaxially with respect to each other and can be swivelled around the joint axis with respect to each other. The actuating element is composed of a threaded spindle (6) which is connected to the drive motor by means of a flexible shaft, is mounted in an articulated manner, free from play axially, in one part (2) of the steering-column tube and passes through a spindle nut (9) mounted in an articulated manner in the other part (1) of the steering-column tube. <IMAGE>
