The torch has a tip (15) on a head (13) to which is attached a bracket (37) carrying a wheel (27) adjacent the tip. The wheel runs on the plate (57) being cut. The periphery (59) of the wheel engages with a drive cylinder which is journalled to rotate about the head (15) and can be driven by a motor (29) by way of an arrangement (31) of shafts and gears. The wheel (27) is thus rotated to move the torch (15) along the path while the torch is hand held. Various supplementary features allow the torch to be used for angled cutting and cutting large and small circles. Thus the wheel (27) is adjustable in position on the bracket (37), parallel to the cylinder axis. The bracket (37) can either be loose about the head (13) or be fixed by a knob (111). Devices for circle cutting may be attached to the bracket by a knob (109). |
