The hinge (4, 6), by means of which two semi-parts (2, 3) forming the container are connected pivotably to one another, has a mandrel (4) whose diameter corresponds essentially to the thickness of the container. Hinge parts (6) moulded onto the semi-parts (2, 3) engage around the mandrel preferably by half of its circumference. Catch grooves (8), which are arranged in the mandrel (4) and in which resilient projections (9) arranged on the hinge parts engage, allow the two semi-parts (2, 3) to be fixed at different opening angles. The container designed in this manner has no interfering projections on its hinge side, such that this region can accommodate labellings on the rear which allow the container to be stored in racks in the manner of a book. The individual parts of the container can be produced from plastic or light metal by means of conventional forming methods. <IMAGE>
