<p>PURPOSE:To perform assortment of objects in two or more types quickly and easily by furnishing a multi-step tray accommodating copying sheets and a sensing means to know whether there are sheets accommodated, and by controlling an empty tray one step apart or more from the tray with sheets after completion of accommodation so as to be accommodatable. CONSTITUTION:This arrangement is equipped with multi-step trays 2a-2h accommodating copying sheets and with a sheet sensor 5 to sense if there are copying sheets to be accommodated therein. A control means 8 is provided, which is to make a tray with no sheets one step apart from the tray with sheets accommodatable when no accommodation for following sheets is made within a certain specific period of time after completion of accommodation of copying sheets in the set number for copying. In this construction, another type of copying sheets are accommodated in an empty tray when the first type of copying is completed, which should allow the sorter 1 to perform assortment of objects in two or more types quickly and easily.</p> |
