PURPOSE:To make a fire extinguisher compact by providing a coupling part such as a cap on the head of the fire extinguisher, building a drive device into the coupling part for releasing chemicals and starting said device using a car battery and the like. CONSTITUTION:When a thermal sensor 8 has detected fire heat, an electric current runs within a circuit comprised of a dry cell and the lead wire thereof and explosives are exploded with a spark discharge, thereby driving a release actuating device 3. Then, a drill 10 lowers and breaks a seal plate 9 and, therefore, fire extinguishing chemicals within an extinguisher proper 1 run through the fractured part of the seal plate 9 via a siphon 11, finally being jetted outside from the chemicals release outlet of a cap 7. As a result, fire-fighting can be executed instantaneously and properly. According to the aforesaid constitution, a fire extinguisher can be made compact and efficiently mounted within the engine room of an automobile and the like.
