For vehicle drum brakes of the two-high duplex construction, a new support of the brake shoes (8) is proposed, which consists in that each brake shoe is on the one hand supported slidingly on the adjusting piston (19) of one clamping device (15) and on the other hand supported rotatably on a bearing bolt (23) on the stop piston (18) of the other clamping device (15). The vehicle drum brake proposed not only has the same braking effect in both directions of rotation but also allows, as a result of the defined wear picture of the brake lining (12) achieved, an optimisation of the lining contour irrespective of the conditions of use of the brake. <IMAGE>
