The invention relates to a machine for printing on flexible hollow items which have an inflatable covering with a mouth intended for inflation, preferably for printing on balloons or the like. The machine consists of a printing unit (2) having at least one rotatable impression roller (10) and having a rotatable counter-roller disposed with spacing opposite said impression roller forming a gap, and consists of a transporting device (3) for moving the hollow items up to the gap and passing the latter through the gap, and consists of means on the transporting device for fixing and inflating the hollow items during their transportation. To increase the printing speed and the printing quality, the means for fixing and inflating the hollow items (4) have at least one insertion member (52) for inserting and holding one hollow item (4) in each case and at least one blower nozzle (71) which is mounted with reciprocating motion on the transporting device (3). Additionally, there is provided a control device (21, 35) for moving the blower nozzle (71) into an operating position intended for clamping and inflating the inserted hollow item (4) and for moving the blower nozzle (71) back into a non-operating position which releases the inserted hollow item (4) and allows a further hollow item (4) to be inserted. <IMAGE>
