A seat adjusting mechanism in a motor vehicle has a worm wheel which is mounted in a housing and a pinion part which bears the worm wheel and is rotatably mounted in a bearing opening in each housing wall on each side of the worm wheel, the worm wheel being rigidly connected to a toothed bearing section of the pinion part adjoining a pinion toothing section of the pinion part. Smooth, low-wear running is ensured along with reduced production costs by the worm wheel being provided with two bearing collars which engage around the bearing section of the pinion part and are in each case rotatably mounted in one of the bearing openings.
