摘要 PURPOSE:To make structure fine and uniform and to produce a material having excellent neutron absorptivity and mechanical characteristics by solidifying an Al alloy into which a specific ratio of B is incorporated under pressurization to form a billet and subjecting the billet to extrusion working. CONSTITUTION:The Al alloy contg. 0.5-12wt% B, and if necessary consisting of 0.5-6% Mg, 0.2-1.5% Si, and the balance Al and inevitable impurities is smelted. The melt of such Al alloy is pressurized and solidified under a high pressure of about >=50kgf/cm<2>. The formed billet is subjected to extrusion. Since the material has the excellent neutron absorptivity and uniform and stable mechanical characteristics, corrosion resistance, weldability, etc., the material is suitable as a structural material for a spent nuclear fuel storage housing, etc.
