PURPOSE:To prevent crack of a ceramic support body, by a method wherein, in the ceramic heat generating body of a combustion type heater, a bent part, having a sloped part inclined toward the interior of the ceramic support body, is formed at the tip part of an electrode connected to a metallic housing. CONSTITUTION:Electrodes 3 and 4 are buried in a ceramic support body 2, and the one end of each of the electrodes is connected to a heat generating body element 1. The other end of the electrode 3 is bent to form 3a so that it is exposed to the side surface of the ceramic support body 2, and the tip part thereof is bent to form 3b so that it is inclined toward the interior of the ceramic support body 2. Meanwhile, the other end of the electrode 4 is bent to form an L-shape in a manner that a part of the L-shape part is exposed to the side surface of the ceramic support body 2. In this constitution, since a boundary between the ceramic support body and the tip part of the electrode is not linear in a direction extending at right angles with the outer surface of the support body, stress between the tip of the electrode and the support body can be dispersed and the support body can be inhibited against crack.
