PURPOSE:To minimize a sound generated from a monitor by providing a monitor control means applying the control so as not to operate a monitor when there is the possibility for an opposite side for talking reply. CONSTITUTION:When a control circuit 24 detects a read signal in 1300Hz from a facsimile communication network, no monitor is turned on and in other case, when a telephone line 2a is connected to the facsimile equipmeut, the monitor is turned on. Further, the control circuit 24 detects a significant signal (preamble, G1 signal,GC2 signal, PIS signal or PH signal) from the opposite side, then the monitor is turned off. That is, the control circuit 24 applies control so as not to operate the monitor when there is no possiblility of reply by a person at the opposite side.
