PURPOSE:To provide the structure which substantially withstands frequent bending by alternately arranging material, which are different in viscosity and elasticity from each other, of a coating material and coating an optical fiber with said material. CONSTITUTION:The optical fiber is embedded in the coating material which is made into the cloth state by thoroughly adding a binder of a resin type to pulverized ceramic powder, pulverized metallic powder, etc., and kneading the mixture and is provided with viscosity and elasticity performance and the outside thereof is coated with a thin belt-like skin having waterproof performance to form the optical fiber. The materials which are different in viscosity and elasticity from each other are alternately placed to the part of such optical fiber where the frequency of generating bending at all times is high at the time of coating such fiber with the above-mentioned coating material. As a result, the structure which is extremely tough to bending is obtd.
