NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I {R<1> and R<2> together with the carbon atom to which they are linked represent formula II (R<5> and R<6> are H, 1-6C alkyl, etc.) or R<1> is H and R<2> is -OR<7> [R<7> is formula III, etc., (Y is single bond, 1-4C alkylene, etc.; R<8> is H, halogen, etc.; m is 1-3;]; R<3> is H, halogen 1-4C alkyl, etc.; R<4> is amino acid residue; X is 0 or S; n is 1-3}. EXAMPLE:N-[( 1S, 3S )-3-[{( 2RS )-2-(Methyl-6, 7-dichloro-2-cyclopentyl-1-oxo-2,3- dihydro-1H-inden-5-yl}oxy]cyclopentanecarbonyl]glutamic acid. USE:A remedy for cerebral edema. PREPARATION:An acid expressed by formula IV is reacted with an acid halide or acid derivative in the presence of a tertiary amine at 0-40 deg.C and the resultant reaction product is then reacted with an amino acid expressed by the formula NH1-R<4> in an inert solvent at 0-40 deg.C to afford the aimed compound expressed by formula I.
