A silver halide photographic material, which is stable against heat or humidity and is excellent in color reproducibility, and which contains at least one magenta image-forming coupler represented by general formula (I), at least one piperadine or homopiperadine compound represented by general formula (XII), and at least one member selected from among coumaran and chroman compounds represented by general formula (XIIIa) and hydroxyindane compounds represented by general formula (XIIIb). The effects of this invention can be further improved in the presence of a metal complex showing a quenching rate of a singlet-state oxygen of 3 x 10<7> M<-><1>sec<-><1> or above.
