PURPOSE:To obtain a photosensitive material preventing deterioration of photographic characteristics, particularly, generation of fog by forming a photosensitive material comprising a photosensitive silver halide emulsion layer and a hydrolysed product of a quaternary chalcogen azolium salt having a middle chalcogen atom as a ring-constituting atom and a specified quaterizing group. CONSTITUTION:The photographic sensitive material contains a photosensitive silver halide emulsion layer and a hydrolyzed product of a quaternary chalcogen azolium salt having a middle chalcogen atom as a ring-constituting atom and a quaterizing group expressed by the formula. In the formula, L is a divalent joint group; T is -CO- or -SO2-; W is an electron attractive group; m is 0-4. The hydrolyzate is preferred to be added to a photosensitive silver halide emulsion layer, and the amt. to be added is pref. 0.01-10mmol per 1mol silver halide in the emulsion layer, particularly pref. 0.015-2mmol. By this method, a silver halide photographic sensitive material contg. an antifoggant causing hardly deterioration of sensitivity nor softening of gradation due to restraint of development is obtd. |
