PURPOSE:To perform reliable detection of heat penetration by a method wherein, in an oven utilizing far infrared rays, differential of the temperature of a far infrared radiator related to a time is calculated, and when the result exceeds a set temperature increase rate, an alarm is sounded. CONSTITUTION:A temperature sensor S is mounted on a far infrared radiator 16, and through detection of a temperature T of a radiator 16, the result is inputted to a control device. The control device compares the temperature T of the radiator 16 with a cooking temperature T1. After the temperature of the radiator is increased to the cooking temperature T1, differential dT/dt related to time (t) of the temperature T of the radiator 16 is computed. The differential dT/dt is compared with a given temperature increase rate, and when the temperature increase rate is increased to the value higher than a given value, energization to a heating element 17 is stopped, and an alarm buzzer is actuated. This constitution enable reliable detection of heat penetration into the object.
