PURPOSE:To obtain a direct positive type silver halide photographic sensitive material capable of forming an image high in density and contrast by fogging the surfaces of silver halide grains containing gelatin subjected to cation exchange treatment. CONSTITUTION:The direct positive silver halide photographic sensitive material is remarkably enhanced in the maximum density and contrast of an image by using silver halide grains fogged on th surfaces containing gelatin subjected to cation exchange treatment. It is preferred to add the cation exchanged gelatin in an amount of at least >=30wt%, preferably, >=50 wt% of a water-soluble protective colloid contained in the emulsion, at an optional time not especially limited, but preferably before the step for fogging the surfaces of the silver halide grains. |
