PURPOSE:To improve a combustion property, by constructing a combustion chamber of a main chamber and a small chamber with a small volume communicating with the main chamber through an orifice and ejecting combustion gas produced in the small chamber into the main chamber through the orifice. CONSTITUTION:A combustion chamber formed between the lower surface 16 of the cylinder head 15 and the top portion 17 of the piston 14 of a 2-cycle crankcase compression type diesel engine 11 serves as a main chamber 18. The cylinder head 15 provided with a recessed portion 19 formed to a shape of a substantially toroidal curve is communicated with the main chamber 18 through a substantially taper-shaped opening 21. Further, a spherical small chamber 31 is formed in the cylinder head 15 and the small chamber 31 is communicated with the recessed portion 19 through an orifice 32 disposed eccentrically from the center of the recessed portion 19. Combustion is effected in the main chamber 18 for increasing the pressure in the small chamber 31 to make combustion in the chamber 31, whereby a high speed flow is produced in the main chamber 18.
