PURPOSE:To inhibit the generation of carbon monoxide by using the value which is obtained through multiplication by or addition of a fixed value to the average value of the coefficient which is calculated when an engine is operated in a fixed accelerating operation range, as a coefficient used for controlling air-fuel ratio when the state of the engine is transferred into the fixed accelerating operation range. CONSTITUTION:If it is determined by ECU 21, during the operation of an engine, that the last loop is in an idle operation range, and the present loop is not in the same condition, the engine operating condition is being transferred into a fixed accelerating operation range in a feedback control range. In this case, the value which is obtained by multiplying the average value KREFACC of an air-fuel ratio correction factor Ko2 calculated in the fixed accelerating operation range by Lean coefficient KRS is considered a correction factor Ko2. then, Lean coefficient KRS is set at 1 or more and feedback control of air-fuel ratio is made to begin when the state of the engine is transferred into the fixed accelerating operation condition. Accordingly, a lag of air increasing supply is prevented and the generation of chabon monoxide is reduced.
