PURPOSE:To measure the dimensions of many kinds of works by one apparatus, by setting the positioning jig corresponding to the work to be measured onto a surface plate using a robot and supporting a measuring sensor by the robot to measure the dimension of the work. CONSTITUTION:In measuring the dimension of a work A, the kind of the work A is inputted to a control apparatus 4 at first. A robot 1 selects the positioning jig 7 corresponding to the work A among a plurality of positioning jigs 7 mounted on a jig mounting stand 6 and the selected jig 7 is fed to the position on a surface plate 5 by the hand 2 of the robot 1 to be arranged thereto. Next, when a worker indicates the start of measurement to the control apparatus 4, the robot 1 allows the hand 2 to chuck a measuring sensor 4 to measure the dimension of the work A an the actually measured value is compared with the dimension of an ideal state to output the measuring result to the outside from the control apparatus 4 and measuring work is finished.
