PURPOSE:To perform renewed registering without rearranging residual article information, by searching for a writing area having the nearest length among the writing areas of article information erased in the past at the time of novel registering and using the same in preference to an unused area. CONSTITUTION:For example, when 'article 2' is erased, 'call number' of 'article 2' of a non-explanatory sentence area E1 is rewritten in a specific erased code and no operation is applied to A2 and L2. When 'article 4' is registered newly, 'name of article 4' is written from the address A4 of an unused area F2 when there is no erased code and 'call number', 'unit price', A4 and L4 of 'article 4' are written from the address next to L3 of an unused area F1. When the erased code is detected, a part satisfying Ln-N<=L4<=Ln (N is a set value) is searched for and, if the part satisfying said condition is present, 'call number' and 'unit price' of said part are renewed to those of 'article 4' and 'name' of 'article 4' is written from the address A2 of an explanatory sentence area E2.
